More Than One Million Meters Will Rely on KORE Telematics in Elster Integrated Solutions Deployment

San Diego, Calif.—DistribuTECH 2009—February 3, 2009KORE Telematics, the world's largest digital wireless services provider specializing inmachine-to-machine (M2M) communications, today announced that Arizona Public Service (APS) has selected KORE to provide wireless communications services as part of the large scale expansion of the utility's automated metering infrastructure (AMI). APS has contracted with Elster Integrated Solutions for 800,000 new meters, all of which rely on the KORE M2M network for two-way cellular data communications.

KORE has provided reliable wireless services to APS since 2005, when the utility began its initial AMI deployment of over 160,000 meters. The new 800,000 meter expansion began in December 2008.

As a pioneer in the M2M industry, KORE is at the forefront of innovation and excellence in engineering to ensure that the network works reliably, all the time. Machine communication requires far more robust support and service capability than standard wireless networks.KORE is 100 percent focused on delivering the specialized communications services and management tools necessary for M2M applications such as AMI to function reliably and cost effectively.

"APS is leading the way toward a utilities infrastructure that is fully automated, to achieve the vision of utilities and consumers collaborating to conserve energy," said Alex Brisbourne, president andCOO, KORE Telematics. "Not only are utilities now able to adjust power consumption across millions of homes and businesses, but in the near future the AMI will allow consumers to control their own home'senvironment remotely."

"KORE has provided excellent support during the initial testing phase at APS," said Sharon Allan, president of Elster IntegratedSolutions. "The KORE network's consistent reliability and seamless integration with Elster's Energy Axis AMI solution is a core element of the overall project."

Economically speaking, KORE also provides the industry's first and most comprehensive "pay-for-use" network services model. KORE charges for only the data services consumed – based on bandwidth as opposed to per connection pricing – to drive costs out of the overall spend. This is especially important in the utility industry where many devices each transmit a very small amount of data.
