Overview

FleetLog partnered with KORE Wireless to embed IoT connectivity into its GPS tracking system. Each device is programmed to transmit vehicle location every 30 seconds over mobile networks using active data SIMs. This real-time data feeds directly into the FleetLog platform, providing customers with insights like:

  • Live vehicle location
  • Trip duration and distance
  • Odometer readings
  • Driver behavior ratings (e.g., harsh braking, speeding)

For advanced features like in-vehicle cameras, FleetLog developed an entirely new data protocol and server infrastructure, enabling live image/video recall via SMS.

KORE’s global IoT connectivity platform ensured reliable and cost-effective data transmission across the entire fleet. Their ability to pool data across SIMs and provide SMS (MO/MT) capabilities made it easier for FleetLog to optimize data usage and deliver rapid updates.

The Results

One notable success story involves a plumbing company with over 40 vehicles. By using FleetLog:

  • Dispatchers quickly identify the nearest available technician, reducing job response time.
  • Driver behavior improved due to monitoring and accountability – resulting in fewer maintenance issues from harsh driving.
  • Time-based billing became more accurate and defensible using GPS trip logs.
