KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl Talks IoT Managed Services, KORE MODGo on Fox Business, Bloomberg

3 minute read

The Internet of Things (IoT) has truly transformed the way the world interacts with technology. With the rise of connected devices, the need for IoT managed services has become increasingly important.

It is important to understand, however, what IoT managed services are, how they work, and how they can benefit those utilizing IoT.

IoT managed services are a powerful approach to lessening the complexity, costs, and time associated with deploying the devices and solution to end customers. IoT solutions are typically integrated into a company’s business but is not its core business.

For example, a medical technology company would seek to deploy connected devices to patients to support remote patient monitoring. This company might have a fleet of devices they deploy – blood pressure cuffs, glucose monitors, spirometers, thermometers, and scales – that are sent to thousands of patients across North America.

The overhead associated with those deployments could be significant. Devices need to be provisioned and activated, packed appropriately, shipped to the right patients and monitored to ensure that the patients turn the devices on. Some devices might be deployed for a few weeks, months, or years, before ultimately they need to be returned to the company, which is a complicated tangle of reverse logistics, regulatory compliance, and much more.

The amount of time, resources, physical warehouse and packing space, and personnel to manage those elements can be large. And again, this is not the med tech organization’s core business; it is just the IoT portion of its business, which basically is its own department.

What an IoT managed services provider can offer to this organization is the ability to transfer all of those tasks to the provider. This can help businesses to free up valuable resources that can be used to focus on their core operations and improve their overall efficiency.

KORE MODGoTM: An Easy Button for IoT Managed Services

KORE has created a SaaS-based platform to help organizations simplify, automate, and streamline IoT deployments. MODGo provides an integrated view into connectivity, orders, inventory, and device management.

This allows organizations to expand their capability by having visibility into where devices are deployed and how they are used; reverse logistics and end-of-life management, and a reduction in how much time employees have to track inventory, orders, and shipments along the supply chain.
MODGo essentially takes the disparate parts of how devices move, are used, and then return and integrates these systems into a single platform.
